SPA terminology comes from the name of a Belgian health resort Spa, famous for a long time for hot sources of therapeutic waters. In addition, SPA in the Latin terminology is Sanitas per aquam, namely health thanks to water. The Belgian origin of SPA and the Latin meaning of this word expressly emphasize the role of water in nature as a universal symbol of life, freshness and regeneration. Its healing effects were discovered as early as in the ancient times, when water bath became a true daily ritual, taking place with due reverence, silencing and contemplation – being almost a religious thing.

SPA philosophy refers just to treating water as a medicine for the body and the soul. It assumes pursuit of such a state of balance and harmony between the body and the mind in which one recovers vigor, health and beauty. |
For this reason, in SPA centers a number of treatments are like rituals in which one takes care of each element of the bath and the ambient. These are treatments performed with due reverence, silencing and in an environment of music and aromas. Passing through the threshold of SPA Center, a guest enters a "new" world dominated by silence, peace and supplement of energy and vigor.
SPA philosophy refers to the culture of travelling to resorts and using services in professional biological regeneration places. The more exotic they are, the better. In Poland the term SPA is a "new" word. One may consider "health resort" as the earlier term being closest to it – however, in case of the latter, reference is made rather to natural environmental values of the place concerned.
Like in Europe, in our country Spa has met with favorable conditions A significant growth has been observed in recent years in this type of investment in Poland. It shows only that the society needs relaxation in a sophisticated form.
In short, Spa philosophy can be described in this way, and probably this reflects best the sense of this expression:
