High risk of breast cancer in populations of Baltic Sea - DNA diagnostic test

Scientists of International Hereditary Cancer Center, Pomeranian Medical University and Read-Gene SA have elaborated DNA test for populations of Baltic Sea (Danish, Swedish, German, Slavic) detecting 53 founder mutations in four genes - BRCA1, BRCA2, CHEK2 and CYP1B1. Patients with particular genotypes have > 30% lifetime risk of breast cancer. If appropriate pre-vention options are applied, this risk may be reduced to a few percent.

The main indication to perform the above testing is occurrence of breast cancer among relatives from mother or father side, however women with high risk originate frequently also from families without cancers in the past.

The price of testing includes genetic counseling (before and after testing) and laboratory analyses of blood sample (patient does not have to be after fast). DNA testing will be performed within 3 working days.
